The Series: Love Moment

There is no place like home when your fingers untangle me along with my hair. Fingers tracing through my heart, my mind and finally to the tips of my hair. Untangle me once more.

Sitting by the window I wait for the rains. You come in, with your book, brush my hair and find a spot at my feet. The smile that you flash at me could end wars. Has anyone told you that? Your eyes dart past pages looking for the book mark; my eyes can’t stop looking at you. I look out the window, wondering if this is what people call love. Who knows; it may just be a moment; a fleeting moment of warmth. I find my way into your lap, you make space almost expecting me there. One hand holds the book, the other finds its way into my hair. You say, like you were ordering a cup of coffee at a busy restaurant, “We should go to the beach soon. I like how your hair feels when we are at the beach.” So casually, still reading, it never has the intensity it should. Your body feels like I could stay there forever. As I wait for the rains, watching the world go by, I fall asleep and wake up to you still reading; as I look up, you put the book away and kiss me.

I know this kiss; I know this means you are not letting me fall asleep again.

Poetry for Thought

I know i promised weekly updates, but haven't been able to write. But here is a piece I was working on, not happy with the finish, maybe will re-work over time.

 Title: Hit Repeat

I reach out my arms and touch you,
You hesitate; I hesitate.
You reach out to your glass,
With your other hand.
You hesitate; I hesitate.
Heart beats faster, even as I write this,
Thinking of you, your hesitation.
The room fills up, noises everywhere,
Yet, I only see you, hear you.
We leave, you leave,
Do you have to leave?
Don’t go screams my heart;
As I struggle to let go of your fingers around mine.
And in a flash, the evening comes to an end,
And I sit here hitting repeat on memories.

3ww: Week 465 (Writing Prompt): Tearful, Unsteady, Abrasive

It seems I always run back to Three Word Wednesday when I begin to revive this blog. So here is this week's writing prompt.

Title: Abrasive

Abrasive.
You are abrasive,
Your words dance between lullabies
And, and….abrasive.
You are unsteady,
You make me feel loved
And hated all at once.
How do you do that?
Make me feel safe yet vulnerable.
Words do not make sense,
But the word abrasive fits
Like a glove.
I stand in front of you,
You look at me and
I cannot stop the tears.
Tearful,
You make me tearful and
I lose my ground.
How do you do that?
Make me feel strong yet so weak.
Like a glove it fits,
That word, that one word
Slips between us and stays.

We are abrasive,
Our legs unsteady and
Our hearts tearful.
How do you do that?
Make it real when it isn’t.
How do you do that?
Makes our hearts scream and not our mouths.
How?
